Never has there been such an
interest in the arts and erafts of
the past as there is at the present
time. The reasons are various.
Some people, often the very
wealthy, collect simply because
they prefer to invest their capital
in objects whose investment
value is constantly increasing.
Others, and perhaps the majority,
collect because they admire and
want to be surrounded with the
ereative work of the past which
is qualitatively so superior to the
products of contemporary mass-
production techniques. Whatever
the reason, however, collecting
antiques--and English antiques
in particular-is with us to stay.
