TRAVELLERS' GUIDE
I hope this guide will help you enjoy your time with
"Simply Corsica to the fullest; I love the island and
trust you will too. I like the Corsicans too, and find
them friendly and helpful but as theyre naturally proud
and independent, and not used to taking orders, they
can sometimes appear gruff when in the "service
industry. If you treat them with the respect they
deserve, and above all tell them how incredibly
beautiful you think their country is (preferably in
French) youtl be warmly welcomed.
This guide is intended as a general introduction to
all things Corsican, whilst the section at the beginning
contains practical information which may be of help
before you travel. More specific practical information
on the particular area you are staying in will be provided
by your Simply Corsica representative when you arrtive
in Corsica.
BON VOYAGE... BON VIAGHU
Sue Gritfiths
Corsica is the third largest island in the western
Mediterranean, only a third the size of neighbouring
Sardinia (number two in the scale), yet packing a
diversity of landscapes worthy of a small continent into
her 8,720 sq kms. Her mountains top all others in the
Mediterranean: only 25 kms from the coast, Monte
Of over 1,000 kms of
coastline, 75% are completely undeveloped and
sometimes difficult to reach by road. If mere distance
was indicative of speed of travel, it would not take long
to drive the length (170 kms) or breadh (83 krns) of the
island, but gorges, gulfs, valleys and peaks provide
beautiful obstacles and only down the east coast
between Bastia and Solenzara does the road run
Cinto soars to 2,706 m.
monotonously straight. …….
