This collection of Disney Literature Classics will be enjoyed by the whole
family, young and old alike. Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse are the
principal actors in situations that derive from great works by great writers.
The familiar irony, wit and magic of Disney are all present in these comic
strip tales that take familiar stories one (or two!) steps further. These
parodies will stimulate children's curiosity, and will encourage them
to read the original classics.
In this parody of Hamlet, Prince Donald-Hamlet is consumed with doubt, as was
Shakespeare's original character. His cousin Prince Gladstorsk is the nasty Claudius
who plots to steal the crown from Donald. He connives with the Beagle-Boy Barons,
who play similar roles to Rosencrantz and Guilderstern, but they get their
comeupance when Donald's nephews change the text ofa letter to Strongleg, the King
of Fjordlandia (Fortinbras of Norway). Donald thinks he sees the ghost of King
Donaldoldie but it looks like a trick. The plot concludes with a battle against the
Fjordlandians and Donald Hamlet's restoration to the throne.
