alphabetical, the reader will find it to be a book of ready reference, as
by its title it claims to be. There are also many simple ailments which
every mother feels she ought to be able to treat. How to recognize such
ailments and how to treat them are here described. Even in the more
serious diseases it is well that the mother and other members of the
household who may undertake nursing duties should not only have
instruetion in nursing, but should be able to appreciate the signiñicance
of symptoms as they arise, the course the illness may be expected to
run, and the reasons for the treatment that is administered. All such
