This presentation pack was issued on 17th October 1989 by the Royal Mail and contains a set of five 20p mint stamps, which were produced to celebrate 800 years of the Lord Mayor of London. The office of Lord Mayor of London began in 1189 with the election of Henry Fitz-Ailwyn. King John officially recognised the people's right to elect their Lord Mayor, but he required that an oath of allegiance to the Crown be sworn by each newly-elected Mayor. The oath swearing tradition continues to this day.

Inside the pack are details of the tradition of the Lord Mayor's Show with information of the procession route, mention of Dick Whittington's election and images of some of the Lord Mayor's regalia. Ideal as a gift or keepsake, making a wonderful addition to any collection.
