Intermediate Pure Mathematics FOURTH EDITION

used good.

The further addition now made to this evidently acceptable text have been carefully chosen so as to make it cover practically all examinations at the General Certificate Advanced Level in Pure Mathematics. They concern the Theory of ComplexNumbers, and the uses of the
Argand Diagram. What many correspondents have asked for is more provision among the eamples for students who have not yet reached the degree of aptitude which the book ultimately secks to promote. Accordingly, some supplementary problemns of this type, relating to a wide varicty
of topics, are now provided. Apart from the worked examples throughout the book there are now about 1,000 problens, practically all taken by permission from London University and Northern Matriculation Board examination papers. Examples
worked out in the text are marked LU. When taken from
those of the former body. Although there is no exposition
of formal geometry, a set of 100 problems on plane and
solid geometry is provided.
The book will certainly continue to find favour in
Grammar Schools, High Schools, Technical Colleges and
Universities both in Britain and in many parts of the
Commonwealth, and the full explanations together with
the liberal provision of Examples worked in detailL will
commend it to students working alone.
