Robert Rothsay had just come in and brought the mail. Some member of the family always called for it at the little schoolhouse, half a mile beyond. the outskirts of their farm. By going to the nearest town, some five miles away, it was possible to get it daily, but it was only sent to the Craigieowen schoolhouse thrice weekly, and the children attending would bring home the mails to their separate households.
