CAPTAIN'S FOREWORD - All our lives we shall remember the period covered by this issue of our magazine. We shall remember how, on February 6th, 1952, we stood together. with heads bowed, in silent and reverent remembrance, as we his people, mourned with feeling of such deep personal loss, the death of our beloved King. In days to come, we shall be proud to recall that we were serving in H.M.S. Indefatigable, and took part in the ritual that marked the nation's grief by firing our minute guns, and that we were represented by our Captain at the last rites at Windsor, and by our Officers and Ship's Company lining the streets for the funeral procession through London. We shall also be proud to recall how in our ship we took part in the ceremonial of our ancient heritage in proclaiming the accession of Queen Elizabeth II. In a moment of time we have traversed the centuries, and once again Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's sailors, no less than us. are abroad on the High Seas. Once again in our island history a Queen Elizabeth of England calls forth the chivalry of her men to give their devoted service to her support, so that their country may rise once more to a golden age of fame and glory. We sailors must be the first to respond to this call, and as in the days of our illustrious Elizabethan forbears such as Drake and his men we must be prepared to render all-out service to our Queen. It is appropriate perhaps that we have but recently had the oppor-tunity of visiting Cadiz where Drake " singed the King of Spain's heard " to the high pleasure of his Queen.
