  • Colour/Appearance: Very pale white, often ivory-like, with little to no visible grain pattern; it can take on a greyish/blue stain if not dried immediately.
  • Grain/Texture: Irregular, interlocked grain with a fine, uniform, smooth texture.
  • Hardness: Moderately hard, Janka rating 4,540N.
  • Density/Weight: Average dried weight is around 640kg/m3
  • Strength: Excellent strength, making it suitable for small items, musical instruments, and handles.
  • Stability: Prone to warping if not properly kiln-dried.
  • Durability: Non-durable or perishable; not suitable for outdoor use and susceptible to insect attack.
